Population growth (the number of citizens) is possible only when there is free living space (Burgage Plots) and when the Approval level is above 50%.
- Approval 75% = +2 families / in-game month
- Approval 50-74% = +1 family / in-game month
- Approval 26-49% = no population growth
- Approval 0-24% = families start leaving your settlement (this is called Emigration) or may turn into bandits if Public Order is low.
The current month, as well as the season in the game world, is displayed in the bottom right corner of the interface.
People in Manor Lords are the foundation of your thriving settlement. The more people you have, the faster your city will develop due to faster resource gathering and food production. You will also need people to create combat units to defend your settlement from bandit raids and enemy lords’ armies.
Keep in mind that the higher the population, the more food and fuel you will need to produce to feed and warm the population.
What are Families
Citizens in Manor Lords live and work in families. Each family consists of several people and can be assigned to perform various tasks, such as logging.
Families have levels. The level of a family is determined by the level of improvement of the Burgage Plot in which they live. For example, if you upgrade the Burgage Plot to level 2, the family living in it will be considered a level 2 family.
The “Population” indicator reflects the total number of individuals in your settlement. When you hover over it, you can see the number of families of each level, as well as the number of retinues.
Adjacent to it is the Living Space indicator, which indicates the number of families for which housing is available in the city.
TIP: Press and hold the “Tab” key to see an overlay with information about buildings. This will allow you to navigate your city more quickly.
How to Increase Approval above 50%
The main factors that contribute to increasing Approval are the availability of food, fuel, and clothing in the marketplace, as well as the presence of a church in the city. Additionally, you must provide the population with water by building a well. By meeting these basic conditions, Approval will either grow or, at the very least, not decrease.
At any time, you can check which factors provoke an increase or decrease in Approval in the tooltip when hovering over the indicator.
Maintaining Public Order
Public Order can range from 0 to 100%. It begins to decrease when there are not enough administrative buildings in the city. If you notice a decrease in Public Order, you should build a Manor as soon as possible.
